About the Club

The Jersey Shore Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in 2014. We are a not-for-profit sports club that focuses on the Irish sports of Hurling & Gaelic Football. We feature adult teams for both men & women, as well as a youth program for children ages 6-17.

Over the past few years, our men’s hurling team has been steadily increasing in size, competing in the Philadelphia GAA’s Junior D division. We have been seeing an increase in footballers registering, and hope to consistently field a developmental football team in the 2021 season. As we continue to grow, we’re looking to develop women’s football & camogie teams as well. Finally, we’re placing a heavy focus on developing our Youth Program. The future of the GAA is important to our members, and while we enjoy our time on the pitch, it’s vital that we pass our love of these games on to the next generation.

While hurling, camogie & Gaelic football may be the national sports of Ireland, you don’t need to come from an Irish background to love these games. In fact, many of our players have no Irish heritage whatsoever, but have found themselves enthralled with the fast-paced, high-energy experiences they’ve found on the pitch. And while the Gaelic games themselves are great, one of the best things about the GAA is the sense of community.

Back in Ireland, even at the highest level of competition, these sports remain an amateur experience–there are no paid professional athletes! Despite playing in front of crowds occasionally over 80,000 fans and being on television every Sunday, most of these athletes go to work Monday morning. It’s the pure love of the game and hometown pride that drives them. That’s the type of experience we hope to foster at Jersey Shore GAA.
